Crypto exchange Bybit is launching perp options, which it describes as the first options contracts tied to stock perpetuals.
Beginning Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. UTC, Bybit users will be able to trade 24/7 options on SpaceX (SPCX) and Nvidia (NVDA), with fractional lots, USDT settlement and full integration into Bybit’s Unified Trading Account. The contracts will also support portfolio margin and strategies including buying and selling options, spreads, straddles and covered calls.
Bybit said it plans to add new expiries regularly and expand the offering to additional underlyings, including Tesla (TSLA), QQQ, SOXL and Micron (MU). The exchange said the new products are designed to give users access to U.S. equity options without traditional market-hour restrictions or the standard 100-share contract minimum.
In July, Ondo said users could use tokenized stocks as collateral to trade perpetuals on stocks, commodities and other assets, extending tokenized equities beyond simple buy-and-hold exposure.
Bybit’s launch takes that convergence a step further, bringing options into the mix alongside the growing market for perpetual contracts tied to equities. Exchanges and crypto platforms including Coinbase, Kraken, Robinhood and others are pushing toward 24/7 equity trading, while tokenized stocks are increasingly being used as building blocks for more complex trading products.
Tokenized-equity perp volume increased from $85 billion in January to about $470 billion in June, The Block previously reported. SpaceX was the most-traded equity perp in June, with more than $66 billion in volume.
That growth is also showing up onchain. Equity-focused HIP-3 markets had grown from roughly 2% of Hyperliquid's perp volume at the start of the year to around 50%, with Nvidia, Tesla, and Nasdaq-100 contracts among the products driving activity.
